About the Company

Be part of a dynamic development team responsible for ENGIE’s business-critical SCADA system operating 24/7 to keep our power perimeter balanced in Belgium, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. We aim to extend the geographical scope and integrate more and more smaller and very flexible assets.

About the Role

As a developer, your role is to:

  • Develop and maintain our SCADA X (Hitachi Energy MicroSCADA X) that keeps ENGIE’s power perimeter in balance.
  • Work on both front-end and back-end development using SCIL, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Apply architectural design principles to build scalable, and robust solutions.
  • Apply software craftsmanship principles (SOLID, DRY, KISS, YAGNI) to build clean, maintainable, and resilient code.
  • Collaborate in an Agile/SAFe® environment with analysts, dispatchers, and technical teams.
  • Contribute to on-call support (after onboarding) to ensure system availability and grid stability. (Our tools are business critical and are used 24/7)

Responsibilities

  • You have a Graduate or master's degree with a specialization in IT and/or electrical engineering.
  • You have at least 3 - 5 years of relevant experience.
  • You have an industrial mindset combined with a high level of software engineering (good architecture, design patterns,…).
  • Our systems have to be very stable. Any problem due to unavailability, bug or other, can have a big impact.
  • You should understand the basics of the electricity production and the grid transport.
  • You adopt a proactive and structured approach to your work, helping to minimize stress and ensure stability in a high-responsibility environment.
  • You pay attention to designing resilient solutions that support 24/7 operations, and you remain available to provide support in case of critical issues (i.e., interruption in your daily work).
  • You are solution-driven and feel responsible for your tasks. When a problem occurs, you have to find a quick fix in no-time. Sustainable fix will be required in case quick fix is solely a workaround to allow operations to be pursued.
  • You are motivated to work in a team that is responsible for real-time activities.
  • You are a team player in complex project organizations and interact easily with your peers, analysts, architects, business representatives, and other teams’ representatives.
